Beef Price & Volume Reporting

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets collaborates with USDA Market News to gather and release monthly Vermont beef sales data. This data is compiled anonymously, and a comprehensive report on Vermont beef sales is produced every month. USDA Market News employs this data in regional and national beef reports.

The Agency of Agriculture incentivizes producers to participate by providing a $15 payment per monthly submission of a straightforward report containing both carcass weight/price and retail sales. All beef producers, regardless of their sales outlet, are welcome to contribute.

Sales figures must be submitted by the 7th of the month following the sales month. (For instance, reports for sales made in May are due by June 7th.) Following receipt of an IRS Form W-9 and an invoice, payments will be sent to participating beef producers or processors after the close of the calendar year.

You can view the data in two ways. A PDF is published the 10th of each month with price & volume figures. There is also a data dashboard below that displays the weighted average carcass price since July of 2020.
