VAEL Update | October 8, 2020 – We have recently identified a need in the community to provide drinking water (well water) bacteria testing and are working with the Vermont Department of Health and Vermont DEC Drinking Water Division to offer this service to the general public and municipalities. We are excited to be able to provide this service, but we are not ready to accept samples yet. Please check back soon, we’ll update our website when we are ready to offer this service.
Previous Update | March 23, 2020 - The Vermont Agriculture and Environmental Laboratory (VAEL) has received many inquiries over the past several days about our current level of operation. We understand that cows still produce milk, streams still flow, and the ice will still go out despite the current state of the world. We recognize that your work continues and, in fact, many of your field campaigns are the perfect opportunity to continue working and to follow recommendations for self-isolation and social distancing. Thanks to our new facility, we are well equipped to continue business as usual and, as long as it is safe to do so, VAEL remains open at full capacity and all testing continues. Thanks to all those who continue to serve our communities and the public during this stressful time. - Rebecca Harvey | VAEL Director
