The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets requests applications for subawards from a USDA Local Food Purchase Assistance cooperative agreement to strengthen farm and food producers’ economic viability and enhance food security throughout Vermont. This community-based food security program will provide grants to Vermont farms, food producers, and organizations to purchase food from socially disadvantaged farmers and producers and distribute food to underserved communities.

Salmonella and Campylobacter performance standards are used to ensure that each establishment that meets this minimum volume of product is consistently achieving an acceptable level of performance with regard to controlling and reducing harmful bacteria on raw meat and poultry products. The microbiological performance standards for reduction of Salmonella and Campylobacter in raw products, coupled with performance criteria for use with E. coli testing allow our program to verify the effectiveness of process controls in slaughter establishments in a method that is equal to the USDA FSIS.

This directive provides instructions to Meat Safety Compliance and Enforcement Specialists, Compliance Investigators and other investigative employees on the methods for conducting investigations of apparent violations, food safety incidents, food defense incidents, or other allegations or incidents under the Federal Meat Inspection Act (FMIA), the Poultry Products Inspection Act (PPIA), the Vermont Statutes Annotated, the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act (HMSA) (the Acts), and related state and federal laws and regulations within the state of Vermont.
