Capital Equipment Assistance Program Funding Available for Phosphorus Extraction

CEAP Offers Funding for Well Proven, Effective Technology to Further Counter VT Phosphorus Imbalance

January 8, 2019 / Montpelier VT - The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets (VAAFM) is releasing a new round of funding through the Capital Equipment Assistance Program (CEAP) for phosphorus extraction equipment or technology.  The Capital Equipment Assistance Program (CEAP) is available for equipment that will aid in the reduction of surface runoff of agricultural wastes to State waters, improve water quality, reduce odors from manure application, separate phosphorus from manure, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce costs to farmers when they apply manure or implement a Nutrient Management Plan (NMP).

Eligible recipients include Phosphorus Separation Equipment Providers, Custom Operators, Nonprofit Organizations, Farms and Businesses. This funding opportunity is intended to complement and enhance the Governor’s ongoing initiative: the Vermont Phosphorus Innovation Challenge by assisting in the effort to address and remediate the ongoing phosphorus imbalance in Vermont.

This CEAP funding opportunity will be available solely for well proven and effective phosphorus extraction equipment and/or technology up to $300,000.00 or 80% state cost share of purchased equipment.

Grant applications are due (or postmarked) by March 1, 2019 and should be submitted to AGR.WaterQuality@Vermont.gov or to: Water Quality Division, 116 State Street, Montpelier, VT 05620-2901.  Complete applications will need to include submission of the CEAP Application, equipment quote/s, a narrative proposal containing a Farm Implementation Plan, as well as a one-page letter of support from involved parties.  Notification of grant funding will occur by April 2019.
