Save the date for this event on advanced composting practices of compost aeration and heat recovery (CAHR). Presentations from the University of New Hampshire’s Organic Research Dairy Farm, VT Natural Ag Products, Agrilab Technologies and UVM Extension will be followed by a guided site tour at the Foster family’s VT Natural Ag Products (VNAP) composting facility and the CAHR systems installed in 2016 and 2017. VNAP is the maker of Moo Doo and other compost and soil products.
Lunch is included for registered attendees.
The practices and technologies implemented for CAHR at VNAP have resulted in improved efficiency and reductions in fossil fuel consumption due to the generation and utilization of renewable thermal energy from the aerated composting process. The site operator and technical partners will describe the design, construction, operating details and lessons learned.
Cost-share funding for this project has been provided by USDA Rural Development, VT Clean Energy Development Fund and the Closed Loop Foundation with support from the Walmart Foundation. Site tours are on a guided basis only. Additional details will be circulated in a formal announcement.
