Vermont Meat Inspection has received several inquiries from retail meat processors wanting to sell their retail exempt meat products from a third-party location they do not own or operate. The FMIA, PPIA, and Vermont Meat and Poultry Inspection laws do not prohibit the sale and storage of meat or poultry food products from a third-party location, but there are steps that must be followed for the products to maintain their exempt status.
