Vermont Maplerama 2019

The Chittenden County Maple Sugar Makers’ Association is proud to be hosting VT Maplerama 2019.  Maplerama is a maple showcase held by a different county each year to include sugar house tours, a maple contest, awards banquet, vendor exhibits, workshops and more.

This year it is being held at the Whitcomb Barn in Essex, VT on July 18, 19, and 20.

Friday and Saturday tours have a diversity of maple producers.  You will get a chance to visit sugarhouses that collectively make syrup for over two hundred thousand taps, and boil with wood, wood chips, pellets, oil and natural gas. Some use the latest in technology like high brix R/O’s and evaporators and others are low tech and everything in between.

A daylong series of hands-on forestry related clinics led by Vermont County Foresters Rick Dyer (Lamoille) and Ethan Tapper (Chittenden) will be held on Friday July 19.  The clinics will include interactive activities on timber stand improvement of sugarbush; how to identify and eliminate invasive plants in your sugarbush; and how to improve your roads and water crossings.
