Milk Matters | Vermont Dairy Farming is Important to Us All.

By Scott Waterman, VT Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets

If we asked Vermonters why dairy farms matter, we would get many different answers, from “dairy is our tradition” to “milk is natural and healthy” to “farming is important to our rural communities”. All are true and indicative of the important role dairy plays for the state.

This year, the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets will ask why “Milk Matters”?  The mission of this campaign will be to identify and promote the many ways Vermont dairy benefits our state, communities, landscape, environment, as well as our bodies and health. An important component of this project will be input and comments from our agricultural community and the general public. We welcome any thoughts you may have about why “Milk Matters”! Send us a fun story or an example from your experience.

The message will go far and wide.  While the “Milk Matters” campaign will look to connect with Vermonters and members of our communities, another focus will connect with consumers and communities outside the Green Mountains.  Funded by the Vermont Dairy Promotion Council, the Agency will develop a campaign that promotes farming, dairy farmers and the economic engine that helps define Vermont. The campaign will utilize TV, radio, print and social media outlets to solicit and share stories. Vermont has a great dairy story to tell.  Please join us in showing the world that “Milk Matters”.
