18 Vermont produce farms received On-Farm Readiness Reviews in 2018.
An On-Farm Readiness Review (OFRR) is a free, voluntary, non-regulatory assessment of a farm’s produce safety readiness prior to inspection under the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule. Produce farms of all sizes and stages of development are encouraged to request an OFRR to grow produce safety on the farm which can lead to increased efficiency, produce quality, and market access. Produce Safety Rule experts from University of Vermont Extension and the Vermont Agency of Agriculture evaluate pre-harvest, harvest, and post-harvest processes, assess what growers are doing well, and identify areas for improvements.
