Date: 2025-02-15
Time: 9-5
Location:
UVM campus
Description: In the past two years, flooding in Vermont has highlighted the importance of thoughtful, forward-thinking flood preparedness and the need to design for resiliency. In this session, join Patrick Dunseith from the Intervale Center as he shares tools to better understand one’s position within a watershed and how to build personalized action plans that can mitigate the impacts of flood events. We will also discuss resources and regulations pertinent to Vermont producers to guide the development of agricultural infrastructure in the floodplain, and look at ways in which the Intervale is adapting the landscape to an increasing likelihood of major floods. At the end, an overview of USDA crop insurance options available to Vermont producers will be provided. This workshop earns one RAP Agricultural Water Quality education credit.
