Earthworks for Today’s Working Farm
Date: 2025-02-15
Time: 9-5
Location:
UVM campus
Description: Planning for the unknown demands a diverse and well-stocked tool kit. Over the past four years, Vermont farmers have had to contend with extended dry spells, severe storm events and everything in-between. In the right context, well-designed and carefully implemented earthworks provide powerful tools to increase farm resilience. In this workshop suited to all experience levels, Mark Krawczyk of Keyline Vermont LLC will present a slide show exploration of earthworks suited to Vermont landscapes including terraces, swales, ponds, erosion control structures and more. Rebecca Beidler of Peace of Earth Farm will also describe some restorative earthworks on her family farm. This workshop earns one RAP Agricultural Water Quality education credit.
