Working Lands Enterprise Legislative Day Highlights Vermont’s Rural Small Business, Cultures and Communities

February 8, 2019 / Montpelier, VT – The Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets (VAAFM) and the Working Lands Enterprise Board will host its annual legislative day Tuesday, February 12th,  to showcase the small businesses that are dedicated to growing the economies, cultures, and communities of Vermont’s working landscape.  Members of the community are invited to hear forestry and agriculture grantee success stories, meet State leaders, and enjoy some light fare that features past Working Land Enterprise Fund grantee’s products. 
Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman, Agriculture Secretary and Working Lands Enterprise Board Chair Anson Tebbetts, along with State and agency leadership will share history of the Working Lands Enterprise Initiative and discuss the successes of the program. For 2019, the Working Lands Enterprise Board is poised to deploy $825,000 in grants, to be announced in early March, with a celebration in June. 2018 grantees received $700,000 in grants to Agriculture and Forestry businesses and service providers around the State.

The Working Lands Enterprise Initiative is administered by the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets in partnership with the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation, and the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development. The initiative is led by the Working Lands Enterprise Board, made up of public and private sector members involved in agriculture, food, forestry, and wood products.
