The Agency of Agriculture, Food, and Markets (AAFM) is currently hiring for an Agricultural Licensing and Registration Specialist. This position involves a fast-paced environment that can include constant disruptions. Applicant must have strong organizational and time management skills, as well as a strong set of customer service and communication skills while working with applicants and vendors, as this is a substantial portion of the daily functions for this position. Multiple databases will be used on a daily basis that will require the use of spreadsheets among other financial applications.

Class Definition

Technical work involving the issuance and renewal of licenses, registrations and permits for 30+ Agency programs, including but not limited to the following: commercial feed and pet food products; pesticide products, companies and applicators; fertilizer, seed, lime, nursery dealers and growers, retail businesses, weights and measures and meat handlers. The position is in the Agency of Agriculture. Employees in this class are responsible for making operating decisions based upon experience, knowledge of agency operations and procedural standards. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative or program-specific supervisor.

Environmental Factors

Duties are generally performed in a standard office setting but some travel may be required. Incumbents must be able to concentrate on details and perform accurate work in the face of frequent interruptions. Pressure from work deadlines is expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field.

OR

Associate's degree AND two (2) years or more providing administrative-level duties for a project, program, or operation.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more performing administrative-level duties for a project, program, or operation.

OR

One year as Agricultural Licensing and Registration Specialist Trainee

Note: Administrative duties are those beyond general clerical or secretarial, such as interpretation of laws, rules and regulations; data collection and analysis; database management; managing support services; responding to consumer questions and concerns; web-based licensing and registration experience; and implementing program policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency with maintaining databases/spreadsheets is highly desirable.
