Nutrient Management Planning – Now is the time to get started!

Vermont's new Required Agricultural Practices mean farms with 50 or more mature dairy cows, 75 or more cattle, or farms mechanically applying manure, fertilizer, or agricultural wastes on more than 50 acres of annual cropland, need to develop and follow a Nutrient Management Plan. The VACD-RCPP program provides the best support for small livestock farm operators who want an affordable Nutrient Management Plan that they understand and can update themselves.  Write your plan with expert support and a community of other farmers.

Sign up for VACD-RCPP to receive:

  • A seat in UVM's Winter 2020 Nutrient Management Class, offered all around the state
  • Free class preparation: Land Treatment Plan, soil sampling, manure sampling
  • Free 1-year license for GoCrop, UVM's online nutrient management software
  • Free tuition to UVM's Nutrient Management Class taught by Heather Darby or Kirsten Workman
  • Learn about nutrients on your farm, interpret soil tests, understand nutrient recommendations, and write your own Nutrient Management Plan in six classes. Classes meet once per week in January-March (start date depends on class location), 10am-3 pm, lunch included.
  • NRCS certification of the Nutrient Management Plan you write to meet EQIP requirements
  • Personalized assistance updating your Nutrient Management Plan for the next three years
