Animal Feed, Seed, Fertilizer & Lime

Animal feed, including pet foods, commercial fertilizers, lime and seeds sold in the state of Vermont must be registered with the Agency and follow both statutory and rule requirements. To ensure that products are truthfully labeled, PHARM Inspectors inspect establishments that manufacture or distribute regulated products. The inspection involves reviewing product label and analyzing representative samples of the products to ensure that products are labeled correctly, and are not harmful to human, animal or plant health

A regulated product having false or misleading labeling or containing a substance that has been identified as harmful to man, plants, animals, or the environment is prohibited from further distribution in Vermont.  Also, a misbranded or adulterated product is prohibited from distribution until it is brought into compliance with the law. The Agency may take corrective actions including fines, stopping sales, and other actions for products and companies that are not in compliance. Annual registration and tonnage (if applicable) fees may be found on the registration applications.  Product renewals are sent out annually. For complaints or concerns about feed, seed or fertilizers please contact 802-828-5050.
