October is National Farm to School Month
October is National Farm to School Month, a time to celebrate the connections that are happening all over the country between schools and local food. www.farmtoschoolmonth.org offers a host of resources to help plan a celebration, including a communications toolkit to help spread the word about your events and a fact sheet to share with your community. The interactive Theme of the Day calendar includes links to tips and information about each theme and how they can be celebrated. Don’t forget to complete the Farm to School Counts survey to share your stories and photos and be entered in a drawing for one of several prizes including free registration to the National Farm to Cafeteria Conference in Austin, Texas in April 2014.
First Annual Vermont “Local Crunch for Lunch”
Celebrate National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day as part of National Farm to School Month with our 1st annual statewide “Local Crunch for Lunch” on Wednesday, October 16th. Vermont schools, farms, and communities are uniting to nurture childhood health, cultivate viable farms, and build vibrant communities through Farm to School Programs. The Vermont Farm to School Network asks you to take action in support of these efforts with “Local Crunch for Lunch” to highlight your Farm to School Program and link to this growing movement in Vermont. Check out the website for three easy steps to organize Local Crunch for Lunch at your school.
