Working Lands Enterprise Initiative Announces over $1 million in grants to Vermont Businesses and Technical Assistance Providers

 

Agency of Agriculture Secretary Chuck Ross, Agency of Commerce and Community Development Deputy Secretary Lucy Leriche, Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Michael Snyder, and the Working Lands Enterprise Board will announce the 2nd round of Working Lands grant recipients.

In 2014, the Working Lands Enterprise Board received a total of 129 letters of intent and applications for a total request of $5,109,890 in funds. The Board approved funding for 37 projects for over $1 million in grants reaching every county in Vermont (8 forestry projects, 28 agriculture projects, 1 ag and forestry project) and leveraging $1.8 million in matching funds.

The Working Lands Enterprise Initiative, Act 142, is administered by the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets and is in partnership with the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation, as well as the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development. The Working Lands Enterprise Board, comprised of public and private sector members involved in agriculture, forestry, and/or forest products is concluding its second year of funding.
