The Vermont industrial hemp program, authorized by the Vermont Legislature in 2013 at 6 VSA, Chapter 34, accepts registrations from interested hemp growers on an annual and open basis. There are no residency requirements, minimum acreages, or limitations on the numbers of registrants.
Individuals or companies wishing to register for the current growing season should do so by downloading and completing the registration form, available at the bottom of this page. Applicants must fill in all fields, sign/initial as appropriate, and return the form with the registration fee to the Agency of Agriculture at the address on the form.
This is an annual registration; applications received and processed in previous years are not valid beyond the end of that calendar year. Growers wishing to have a valid registration this season must register with the Agency prior to planting.
Registrants will be assigned a registration number at the time of registration.
In 2017, the Agency is planning to offer a voluntary sampling and analysis program for THC and other cannabinoids. Results and experiences obtained through this program will provide direction for our efforts to provide analytical services and regulatory guidance for the hemp program in the future. Details of the program are provided in the links below.
Questions, concerns, and suggestions about the industrial hemp program, the sampling and analysis pilot program or procedures, or Vermont hemp generally should be directed to Cary Giguere (email@example.com), (802) 828-6531, at the Agency of Agriculture.
