This directive prescribes the methodologies that VAAFM personnel in the Meat Inspection Section (MIS) (collectively referred to in this directive as “program employees”) are to apply when collecting, safeguarding, and disposing of evidence in the performance of surveillance, investigations, and other activities under the Federal Meat Inspection Act, (FMIA), the Poultry Products Inspection Act (PPIA),– collectively referred to as ―the Acts‖ – related laws and regulations, and 6 V.S.A Chapter 204. MIS is reissuing this directive to update procedures for the collection, storage, and retention of evidence.
