Vermont Farms 2+2 Scholarship Program

The Agency of Agriculture Food and Markets, Vermont Technical Colleges and the University of Vermont are pleased to announce the Vermont Farms 2+2 scholarship awards for the Fall 2019 semester.  Recipients of the scholarship are a part of the 4 year program that will provide a ½ scholarship at Vermont Technical College for two years and a full scholarship to the University of Vermont for 2 years. 

Students joining the programs and receiving the scholarship as Sophomores include:

  • Emma E. O'Neill from Williamstown
  • Amelia F. Rose from Braintree

Students joining the program and receiving the scholarship as Freshman include:

  • Kameron Gallant of Wheelock
  • Ryan Montgomery of Danville
  • Olyvia Fortin of Derby
  • Kelsey Francis of Burlington

The Vermont Farms 2+2 Scholarship Program provides scholarship to young Vermonters who wish to pursue a career in the dairy industry.  The Vermont Legislature through the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets provides scholarships to young people to spend 2 years at Vermont Technical College gaining an Associate’s degree in Dairy Farm Management and two years at UVM to obtain a bachelor’s of science degree in Animal Science or Community Entrepreneurship.  The scholarship program supports 5 students in the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior year of college and includes a semester at the Miner Institute in Chazy, NY.

During the four-year Vermont Farms 2+2 program students will develop the knowledge and training to be effective and competitive members of the dairy industry.  During the program, students will gain the following competencies –

  • leadership skills,
  • strong understanding of the dairy industry,
  • the ability to communicate with the public and as part of a management team
  • and the confidence in the application of technical and scientific knowledge. 

 

All students must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 to gain and maintain the scholarship through the 4 years of the program.

The Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets welcomes these future dairy industry leaders to the Vermont Farms 2+2 Scholarship Program.
